Performance Requests & Community Appearances

Thank you for your interest in featuring the Cougar Band at your upcoming event! We take immense pride and love supporting our local community whenever possible.

As a large-scale performing arts organization, our program involves hundreds of students and significant logistical coordination. To maintain our high standards of excellence and protect our students’ academic success, we have established the following guidelines for all external performance requests.

Our Primary Mission

The Cougar Band’s first priority is the musical and academic development of our students. Our calendar is built around:

  • Instructional Integrity: Ensuring students do not miss vital classroom "seat time."

  • Competitive Excellence: Dedicating necessary hours to UIL preparation and halftime show refinement.

  • Resource Stewardship: Managing the wear and tear on district-owned instruments and equipment.

Standard Requirements for External Events

For non-district or corporate engagements, the following requirements must be met to ensure the event is sustainable for our program:

  • Performance Fee/Donation: A minimum tax-deductible donation of $2000 to our Band Boosters 501(c)(3). These funds are vital for instrument maintenance, sheet music, and student scholarships. The final amount is subject to the requirements of the performance and on a case-by-case basis.

  • Logistics & Transportation: The requesting party is responsible for all transportation costs. This includes per-mile/per-hour bus fees and equipment truck logistics. We cannot utilize taxpayer-funded fuel for private or corporate functions.

  • Lead Time: A minimum of 4–6 weeks’ notice is required for all requests to allow for student scheduling and district transportation approval.

  • Technical Needs: Depending on the ensemble size, specific requirements for loading zones, water stations, and "stage" dimensions must be met.

Current Availability

Our ensemble is always preparing for school events, concerts and UIL activity. During this high-intensity season, we are generally unable to accept unpaid corporate engagements or events that conflict with our rehearsal and competition schedule.

A Note on Public Resources

As a program within the school district, we are committed to the ethical use of public funds. We do not utilize district-funded resources for private commercial benefit, which is why all external travel and wear-and-tear costs must be covered by the requesting organization.
